Clothing Alterations Wexford

Here at Gúnadóir Alterations Wexford, we specialise in all clothing alterations from dresses and skirts to pants and jeans.  So in this blog post I want to share with you some of the typical types of jobs we’d encounter from week to week which can vary from clothes to curtains to facemasks depending on what the customer requires.  Lets start with dresses.

Typically people will be coming to us looking to have a dress altered for a wedding or other special event like a dinner dance, wedding or debs, sometimes they might want it shortened in the sleeves or at the bottom, they may want it taken in at the side either.  Sometimes  taking up the shoulders or shortening the straps can lead to more comfort on the shoulders and in some cases we may add panels in order to make the garment a little bigger and more comfortable.  On ocassion we have been asked to insert pockets into a dress because the customer wants easy storage and quick access to phone or keys.  Whatever your requirement it is best to call in and speak with our expert seamstress Agi who will examine the dress and provide you with options.

We alter all types of pants and jeans and sometimes this is just a case of shortening the pants by a few inches or letting in or out the waist for a better fit, and if the waist does need to be adjusted then we may be able to add a piece of fabric to the waistband to make it a bit bigger.  The customer may want the leg shortened, a pocket inserted or a belt holder replaced.  Sometimes the pants in question can be a bit tight in one place – for example on the hips and if that is the case then we will adjust the hips part of the pants so you can have a more comfortable and practical fit.  It’s the same with jeans – we can alter your jeans to suit your requirements and if you would like the original hem kept in place after the alteration then that is absolutely fine, we will also give you the option of a normal hem, it’s completely up to you.
